As leaders of countries deeply concerned for the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, including many of our own citizens, we fully support the movement towards a ceasefire and hostage release deal now on the table and as outlined by President Biden on May 31, 2024. There is no time to lose. We call on Hamas to close this agreement, that Israel is ready to move forward with, and begin the process of releasing our citizens.
We note that this agreement would lead to an immediate ceasefire and rehabilitation of Gaza together with security assurances for Israelis, and Palestinians, and opportunities for a more enduring long-term peace and a two-state solution. At this decisive moment, we call on the leaders of Israel as well as Hamas to make whatever final compromises are necessary to close this deal and bring relief to the families of our hostages, as well as those on both sides of this terrible conflict, including the civilian populations. It is time for the war to end and this deal is the necessary starting point.

Meanwhile 3 air strikes on a UN school in a central camp. Reports 40 dead. Strikes at 1.30am. Reports suggest 360 schools in total have now been hit.

Mass casualty incidents caused by the Israeli military offensive in southern Gaza are becoming normalised in the west and leading to a sense of fatalism inside Gaza itself, according to Sam Rose, the director of planning for the Palestinian relief agency Unrwa. He was speaking after an Unrwa school at Nuseirat was bombed by Israeli forces leaving at least 33 dead, including 12 women and children.
Rose, who had just returned to London after five weeks in Gaza, said: “There were about 6,000 people sheltering in that school. There are rules of war that we call on all sides of the conflict to adhere to: to protect the inviolability of our installations. There are also principles of distinction, and of proportionality. “We’ve seen this time and time again, to the extent that it’s almost become normalised. In previous conflicts, single incidents like this would cause shock and outrage and would be remembered forever. Whereas it seems in this conflict it will be this one will be replaced by another in a few days’ time unless it all comes to an end. So, it almost becomes commonplace and mundane that these things are happening. We have normalised horror.”
Unrwa has about 300 schools in Gaza, but none of them have delivered education since 7 October, and have largely turned into refugee centres for those fleeing the fighting. It is estimated that only 100,000 people remain in Rafah out of a prewar population of 270,000. At one point 1.4m refugees were in the area.
The amount of aid reaching Gaza through the one crossing open, Kerem Shalom, remained wholly inadequate, Rose said. He added that delivery of the aid is made more difficult by the fighting and large parts of the population are still on the move. Israel, he said, seemed to have given priority to commercial trucks to use the crossing, and that meant much humanitarian aid in the form of medicines was being held up. He said that diplomatic pressure put on Israel to allow aid into Gaza appeared to have dissipated.

Israel has justified it on the basis of a number of members of some group and that these actually took part in the initial attack. The hospital in the area is running at 300%+ capacity. No doubt they have indisputable proof but where is it? Same for the UNRWA workers.
The footage Israel release is mostly a joke. IDF shooting at nobody, advancing in empty areas and entering empty buildings. Weapons recovered eg from hospitals far too few to have any real meaning other than wondering how they get there. One interesting one was an IDF complete with a big smile pulling a small rucksack from above a false ceiling - what was in it and was it really there. Weapons in one 3 or 4 hand guns and one looked to be a bolt action rifle.
Another proud moment in the history of Israel as the United Nations is adding Israel to its so-called “blacklist” of countries that have committed abuses against children in armed conflict, an Israeli diplomat has confirmed, as thousands of Palestinian children have been killed in the Israeli military’s continued assault on the Gaza Strip. The annual report on children in armed conflict compiles “a list of parties engaging in violations against children”, including killing and maiming, sexual violence and attacks on schools and hospitals...a list of shame, which included Russia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, Syria and Haiti.

But Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz slammed the UN’s decision on Friday, calling it “shameful”. “The [Israeli military] is the most moral army in the world – and no fictitious report will change that. This step will have consequences for Israel’s relations with the UN,” Katz said in a social media post.

Truth is slowly emerging about the civilian casualty rates although the UN seemingly not acknowledging this, civilian death rates have fallen dramatically.
Hamas still not interested in a ceasefire.
