It's odd that in MBK's world young stay longer with parents, buy houses later in life than they used to and also produce babies later on in life. Not mentioning the bank of mom and dad. In his opinion people can fix this easily. Actually at a variety of income levels they can't. Some of that is down to expectations but not all.

Another factor is living in a consumer orientated economy where producers continue to increase the number of items a person is likely to want. This knocks the few that say they cut back to buy a house. People want a credible lifestyle and info on what that may mean is pumped into them every day.

it is isn't. Their "ideology" is encouraging people to go and get it for themselves. Not moan that others have it and they don't.
WRONG

Wealth inequality has massively increased over last 14 years
During the years of austerity, wages stagnated and the living standards for the majority plummeted.
Meanwhile the rich got significantly richer both in income and in asset growth.

Tories are indeed encouraging people to go and get it for themselves……as long as they are already rich

And some more opinions
The increasing inequality of rich-to-poor is not just an opinion...it is a fact.
You go on about attracting talent into top positions in commerce and industry, yet the political class has failed to allow their ingenuity to flourish, regardless of which party is in power. Although it should be noted that for all the Tories bluster over Br*xit and Britannia Unchained, their failures over the past 14 years have contributed more than Labour have.

Just opinions.
The age shift I mentioned is fact and doesn't have much to do with poverty. It's a general thing across a wide range of house prices across the country.

The consumer aspect is an observation but it's also factual. For one it can result in people being trapped in rented accommodation due to wanting some level of lifestyle.

That is very true.

When I first started renting out my flat. It was short term contractors/professionals on projects who wanted local accommodation. Slowly over the years (25 or so), it changed to typically EU immigrants working in hospitality. Avg lease went from 12 months to 4-5 years.

However, house prices have not universally outstripped income across the whole of the UK and with telecommuting people are able to base themselves further away. Obviously a chef, plumber, mechanic etc can't telecommute.

I have consistently said, the best way to help those at the bottom, is to help them develop the skills to move up a notch. A shift from minimum wage to avg wage would make a massive difference.

Without increasing the housing supply, it'd just inflate their prices even further.

Making those that already hold the wealth even wealthier.

Causing an oversupply of qualified people, more competition for jobs, pushing down wages and leaving more unable to find work they are qualified for.
