EV are they worth it?

This is rather worrying! I don't routinely check whether I am parked next to an EV, but I think I might do in future.
I envisage coming back to my car only to find it is completely consumed by fire, and any insurance claim might be contested by suggesting it was my (ICE) care which had burst into flames.
I'd like to see all public car parks ensuring that EVs are isolated from ICE cars when being parked.
Do you ever park next to range rovers? Ice versions ?

Do you know of anybody personally that's suffered a fire caused by another car?

Do you think your insurance wouldn't be interested in the Fire Service report of who/where/what started any fire ?

No one is being forced to buy electric vehicles or any other kind of vehicles.

The ban on the sale of new combustion engine vehicles in the UK won't take effect until 2035.
After that, there will still be millions of existing combustion engine vehicles in use for the next couple of decades at least.

The only relevant part of that video is at the end, which no one looked at.

Lithium ion battery fires in electric vehicles are very rare.

They are a big problem when they occur, but so are most fires.
Such as JLR's diesel clumpwagons going on fire and destroying an entire car park.

The worst vehicle fire I know about was in Liverpool, and it was the liquid fuel running down the plastic drains which melted which caused the fire to spread so much, this makes all the EV fires seem insignificant in comparison allowing the use of plastic fuel tanks has not helped.

The resulting blaze led to the loss of approximately 1,150 vehicles and so severely affected the fabric of the building, that demolition is the was outcome. It will need a lot of reports about EV vehicle fires to get anywhere near the number lost with just one liquid powered vehicle fire.

Banning sale is same as forcing people to not buy. Warning people of a ban means to force people to take evasive actions.

The reason for the ban is because EVs can't compete with ICEs. If you let the market decide, even if you give EV buyers incentives, EV will still come out losing. It's a non-viable system. EVs are the equivalent of the betamax format. If left to the market, EVs will become extinct.

I will never buy an EV. I am 71 and by the time they try to ban ICEs (which they will never be able to do!) I shall not be here.

A commonly held opinion is the Betamax format was superior to VHS - bad marketing and lack of investment was its downfall.

Electirc Veehickles do not suffer from either one of those factors.
