Why are you proposing to shut down private schools?

I am not but the labour fruit cake on the radio was told that if you remove this charitable ststus
Caper 150 May shut down

She was also asked would you like to see private schools shut down
She refused to answer

Apart from saying “ don’t tempt me”

You didn't do a very good job of explaining, I'm blinkered. Help me remove this blindfold, I want to join the angry revolution.
You have come into this forum and posted only about Reform and how you intend to vote for them. No other postings, not that that bothers me, but it is relevant.

Nobody can remove your blinkers, its you that has put them on.

So feel free to carry on your promotion of them. Will take more than soundbites and slogans to persuade me to vote for them, and you won't be persuaded to vote for anybody else, so it's a stalemate and you deny obvious facts. But, that's life

Just inverted snobbery and class envy. They'd happily waste additional money on making everyone as ignorant and unhappy as they are, just so that everyone's equally miserable. Equality I suppose!

Well done, you're actually discussing things now. Sort of, between insults anyway.

They're pretty big news, current affairs at the moment. Perhaps you don't follow the news, here's one example among many...

I hadn't heard of them until last week, I read a bit of blurb and thought that they sounded worth a protest vote. I happened to come here asking about heat pumps and found a pointless Tory-bashing thread that I thought could do with a bit of balance and a different angle.

I disagree with lots of Farage's points, but he's a good stirrer. For example I don't understand why he says the EU is bad because it's undemocratic yet he supports the royal family, there's a big logical contradiction here.

There you go, no need for paranoia about it all being some evil conspiracy. I don't think Reform would actually employ people to post in a corner of a DIY forum that hardly anyone reads, if they're doing this sort of thing they'll be on Twitter or something.

No. I wasn't discussing anything in that post, but explaining why not.

you have refused every comment that has been made, denied we are a wealthy country,, want Reform to change things but then speak about wanting more of the same.

If you can't see that, feel free to vote for them. Just don't try and tell me they have anything to offer more than sound bites, unless you can produce the details. But I've asked for that before.

I think you're taking the term 'Conservatism' at an odd tangent: yes, it can mean to conserve, but Conservatism isn't intended to reflect that ideal in the same way the Green Party would use it, for instance. Traditionally, Conservatives have advocated traditional family values and preservation of Christian faith in regard to the Establishment.

This might better explain what it is to be conservative.

Roger Scruton was booted out by the current Conservative Party for actually being conservative.

The members of the Conservative party voted for Boris Johnson as the best they had

When he was booted out, they voted for Liz Truss as their next best.

You reckon. Pushed to the right by ideas initially adopted from communism and abandoned yonks ago even by Putin in many areas. Even Corbyn didn't want to bring them back. Labour's view in some of that area is that ok lots have been privatised - is that ideal for all?

When he was asked about the health area he suddenly got less specific but implied periodic cuts. For that read inadequate funding etc at times and difficulty in recovery to how it should be when taken too far or even maintaining standards at some level.

;) The Poles ware interesting. The USA now has little problems with Mexicans according to the interviewer as their middle classes have improved their position. Probably mentioned as that is a fundamental aspect of the EU, Probably why the interviewer mention it. Being ex Soviet state does have it's problems but any member could have vetoed them joining and didn't.

Here is his view on the EU

LOL Gov never do work on laws. Common law solves all? Just throw away and ignore economic aspects. Spout on the fact that peoples differ. The size of England in particular does have it's interesting aspects but not when the whole of the UK is considered.

thought that they sounded worth a protest vote.
That is the idea and of course there will be plenty about. They want votes. People should be careful about what they are voting for.
Their policies

This time they have found £75b extra from some where. If in power and they did that the reaction would be as per Truss budget with bells on. In fact there is no way they could do it for a number of rather stable years needed to clear the current situation. Doubtful even then. The NHS will of course be wonderful.

Bring up lockdown financing for people who haven't a clue why lockdown was needed. Criticise how it was applied fine and I expect that the enquiry will,

Energy no problem but takes 7 to 10 years to do anything about it. North sea and shale gas figure. Dictate prices - no company will do this sort of thing for no profit. N Sea gas and oil only became feasible when prices had risen to a certain level.

Economics from a 2 shares ltd company. Both shares owned by a single economist. Seems to employ 1 person as well - the owner.

This thread proves that discussing politics online is a pointless waste of time.

Far too many are just nailed to whatever gang they feel they belong to, probably whatever party their dad voted for too, everything else is terrible on principle and actual policies are almost irrelevant.

I'd like to see a system where you get blocked from voting for an election if you vote for the same party three times, as you're clearly not thinking about it if you do this. I'm joking obviously, but those who just keep voting for the same old people will keep getting the same old rubbish, and ensuring that the rest of us have to keep putting up with politicians who don't actually serve the public.

It's easy to rubbish any party's policies. The hard bit is justifying why the lot whose flag you happen to wave is better, most probably can't.
