Is he Right?? Tory That Blames Foodbanks Use on Those that "Can't Cook, Budget"

I came from a poor family, when I was a youngster the old man asked me what I'd like for xmas, something to wear and something to play with, I said. He gave me a pair of trousers with a hole in the pocket.

My parents used to buy my clothes from the army surplus stores. It wasn't nice going to school dressed as a Japanese general.

There was soup kitchens for years before food banks appear so it's not really a new thing.

There still are soup kitchens. Tune in to Sky News now and you'll see one in Blackpool.

My wife works in a school and sees this first hand. Several times teachers have given their own money to send assistants (my wife's role) to the coop to buy sandwiches for hungry children, who are literally passing out at their desks in the morning.

A good friend teaches in another school, and says same thing often happens, and more kids one free school meals that ever.

Strange that the Tory supporting newspapers are not sharing this reality with voters.
its a shame the headbanging right wing goons on this forum cant show some empathy with people suffering

If we'd have voted labour in the last GE, we'd all be enjoying free internet by now. That was the big promise, wasn't it?

He wanted to involve Virgin in that. Virgin for one would be in an odd position so may well have complied. The main point he was making actually was trying to keep up with China in some areas. He wasn't talking about the old style state owned etc either. Covid may have messed up his plans. Who knows. I don't.

Covid does relate to price increases in some areas. Would you believe the Pentagon and traders in the USA are talking about ways to get round that. There are some price increases that current economic controls can't really handle on their own that are totally separate to that.

I blame it on Tories, because it is their F****g fault
And tw@ts like you spend your time supporting the lying Chunts

After living through the winter of discontent and a declared state of emergency, too damn right I'm a Tory supporter, I've seen the damage the alternative can do.

but it isn't going to dramatically change fortunes when fuel accounts for 25% of income.
When I was working you'd be surprised at the number of houses I visited where the heating was on full pelt and the occupants were in summer clothing-shorts/t shirts etc etc. People would most likely be slammed as heartless and insincere if they were to state the bleedin' obvious, ie, put a f***ing jumper on.

Fillyboy doesnt dispute any of the points I made as he knows they are all true
instead he deflects with some bolox about something that happened 50 years ago

Fillyboy is quite happy to admit he supports corruption, lies, dishonesty, a government funded by Putin and a brexit funded by Putin

;) Might relate to the people who can afford you. I'm not sure the state can cover repair and maintenance costs on heating.

Some of the older shelter housing in the borough i worked in had heating full on even on warm days people had to open their windows and it was inc in the rent. Sadly, hardly anyone contributed to the rent as all on benefits.

Our, place, I've cut down on wearing shorts and t-shirts during the very cold spells this year to save on heating some of the time but as house is south facing we do save on heat as we have those floor to almost ceiling folding doors so lots of heat for free.

It was Tories policy to introduce the Universal Credit system and its toxic way cutting people benefits for no good reason -leaving them starving

It was designed to simplify an overly complicated system, to reduce multiple payments into one universal payment. How many people have starved because of it? I've not read of any.

It was Tory policy to make PIP assessments run by private operators and make so many people fail it -even peope dying of cancer

I'd agree the private companies were over zealous, I'd also say far too many people were/are fiddling disability allowances, 'mobility allowance' is another good scam that needs to be looked at with with the same degree of zeal.

It was Tory policy to flog off millions of council houses

Councils had the ability to sell council houses since the housing act of 1936, 16000 were sold between 1957 and 1964, Labour were first to propose 'the right to buy' in their 1959 manifesto but lost that election.
It's a great idea, making tenants stake holders, property owners, or would you rather see people trapped in tenancy all their life never being able to own their own property, shame on you.
I think more should have done in building new council homes, but let's not forget the facts.
The Blair and Brown Governments built a total of 7870 council houses over a 13 year period, under Thatcher no fewer than 17710 council houses per year.

It was Tory policy to cut public services until they fail

All public services fail to a greater or lesser degree. The NHS has 'failed' in many respects every year since it's inception, the Police 'fail' on a regular basis because there is still crime. What's it like trying to get a driving licence or passport at the moment?, actually forget the last two, they have more staff than ever, it's just that they're still working from home.

It was Tory policy to have 10 years of austerity

It was EU policy and detailed in the Maastricht treaty, we've had this discussion before. Most countries in Europe had austerity, even Germany despite the fact they were running a massive trade surplus.

It was Tory policy that ensured 10 years of wage stagnation for the poorest whilst massive increases in wealth for the richest

Er no, that would have been the global financial crash.

It was Tory policy to flog off energy sector and make it fail

Which ones have failed?

It was Tory policy to not ensure UK had sufficient gas storage

Well I certainly haven't run out of gas, have you?

It was Tory policy to allow London to be money laundering centre of the world -enabling Putin

London is one of the world's leading financial centres, I don't doubt for a moment some Russian money filtered through it, still, it's comforting to know that UK has done more to punish Russia than any EU country you might care to mention.

It was Tory policy to enable brexit causing massive cost increases in red tape

Nope, brexit was the result of a democratic referendum, we won.

It was Tory policy to enable brexit making veg and fruit rot in fields putting up prices

Nope, brexit was the result of a democratic referendum, we won. BTW, loads of farms round my way, ain't seen any rotting veg but I'll be sure to let you know if I do.

It was Tory policy to have massive PPE corruption meaning less money for the poor
It was Tory policy to not make any effort to recover covid fraud -less money for poor

Are you seriously telling me if it wasn't for a few companies importing paper masks and Rishi keeping people in employment, the poor would be rich?

It was Tory policy to not stop increase in zero hour contracts

It was a labour Government that introduced them.

It was Tory policy to allow housing market to be dictated by rich housebuilder and trapping people in rented accomodation

Er hang on, you were the one who want's to trap people in rented accommodation, you didn't want them to have the right to buy.

It was Tory policy to make terrible decisions on covid and end up with -10% gdp in 2020

We did a damn sight better thatn a lot of countries, and will continue to do so, you won't like that, but hey.

Dunno about the rest of the country but all round here people need an official referral from a professional organisation before they can receive food bank supplies.

This would be a GP, doctor or nurse or someone who works with people on a very low income. AFAIK, there are boxes to be ticked by the professional, to confirm the income of the individual in question and their eligibility for food and assistance.

Same here to, you can't just turn up and grab what you need for Sunday lunch on the way to the Apple shop.
