nuke or fossil fuel

PS: I've heard that the French tidal power station has slowed the Earths's rotation by a small but measurable amount.

It has ideed slowed the rotation and continues to do so. It has also Affected the orbital speed of the moon by a very small amount due to the change in gravitational effect on the moon of the restricted water.

I cannot find the references where the values are given.

The Moron from outer space strikes again:
Don't let anyone kid you - there is NO alternative fuel - and there never will be.
Oh dear

I bet they thought that when everyone was riding around on horses and then ... Steam ... So everyone rode around on traction engines and believed there would never be a replacement for them and then ... Petrol ... OOOeeeeerrrrrrr.

I believe Nuclear submarines are merrily chugging along beneath our oceans and most of France's power comes from nuclear so there IS actually an alternative fuel already and to say that there will NEVER be a replacement for fossil fuel is remarkably stupid even by the poster's own standards.

No need to be unpleasant just because I have a habit of kicking your butt.

There simply is NO replacement for oil. Mother nature put the power into oil and all we have to do is clean it up and spend its calories. No other form of power can replace that. If you think you know one - let me know.
Remember, what we are talking about is CHEAP portable energy. Now be a good lad and tell me what will replace it. If you say bio fuels I'll make you look a complete plonker - you have been warned. Over to you Earthling

megawatt. Even you must realise that today our technology is such that we can see there is no further technology on the horizon. We've gone way past steam and horses ya know - and even though we have just a few short years to find the replacement for free oil - there is absolutely nothing on the horizon to replace it. If you think there is - let's hear about it - don't keep it to yourself. (he won't)

Well megawatt. To start with nuclear isn't portable and you can't manufacture plastic from it like you can oil. Secondly - it's running out fast. Sorry, no coconut this time. Care to try again?

Well there's a suprise. This site has a store that sells all sorts of 'after the oil crash' products. All credability is out of the window. The only thing I agree with you about this site Joe is this...

I know the style of writing is a bit sensationalist and Americanised

Read what is written. It's all documented - nothing imagined. Take a look at any Brit paper and see what rubbish they promote.
There's nothing wrong with promoting books on the same subject as the site. It's a bit like DIYnot promoting books on DIY - so all credibility for this site is out the window I guess?.
Now you tell me which part of the site you don't understand and I'll explain it to you.

'Promoting' books? That's all you think they are doing? I suggest you look again. ( removing the blinkers might help ) If you still cant see what's going on, then I hardly think there is anything you can explain to me about the site

It's a bit like DIYnot promoting books on DIY - so all credibility for this site is out the window I guess?.

Very poor comparison - but nice try.

How can anyone take this guy seriously, he's a legend in his own underpants

It's up to you what you believe or don't believe, but the petrol pump at your local garage is telling you something you can't deny. Sooner or later you'll just have to accept the truth.
