But there's absolutely no justification for not applying todays' morals to atrocities of the past. Morals don't change that much with history.
Starving 12,000,000 Indians to death, indiscriminate shooting of civilians in Ireland, imprisoning, rape and killing of Boer women and children in concentration camps in Africa, as examples, are immoral in any era.

morals and standards do change with history, hence slavery has been abolished.

You absolutely cannot hold history to todays moral standards, you can look back at history and think how much better we are today though.

i do find it funny how the Italians are allowed to be proud of their roman heritage, however brit's must be demonised.

Lastly the commonwealth cant have been all bad as there are 54 countries in the commonwealth, many of which were part of the british empire.
