I'll say it again, the authorities and legal process should treat EVERYONE the same. It ain't rocket science.

But what if they don't. If there is already an unconscious bias baked into the system, how should it be corrected.

You’d start by proving it exists, before looking to “solve” the problem.

You’d want to be 100% sure it was not down to other factors, before assuming it was institutional racism.

That sounds like a very woke argument. It is impossible to treat every crime the same, they are many different mitigating and aggravating factors. I recall a London football hooligan who complained of getting a higher sentence from a rural magistrate than he would from his usual London beak. Deterrence alone is a factor. It is discrimination for non relevant factors that is the issue, whichever side of the argument you are on.
