Except they didn't, Russia invaded as part of WW2 and annexed some Finnish territory and then was fought to a standstill.
Finland counterattacked as part of the Axis invasion of Russia. When the Russians pushed back the Germans in 1944 they also rolled Finland back to the edge of the annexed territory but Finland fought them to a standstill again and they signed a peace treaty.
They didn't 'overrun' Finland at all. They probably could but it would have been a major distraction from the German front.

Usual thing, few shots before retreating to avoid hits due to the Russians finding out where they were. A jet from one side or the other overflew by the time the tank was back in the bushes.

Complications, Deteriorating weather, leaves falling of trees making it harder to hide and what will happen when the reserves get there. Expressed the opinion that the weather will slow things down.

It fits in with a weapons agenda as well. What best to supply to make life tricky for Russia - anti tank. Were there stingers too? Then more capable stuff later.
Mind you there are 2 ways of looking at that. One - make it last. Two - weaken Russia first then help more.

it's a tricky one for Russia, push untrained and questionably equipped troops forward where they struggle to get amunition and food forward, or keep them in reserve where the failure to pay them makes mutiny more likely.
But the mud season is closing in, that will reward the army with the best logistics pipeline. That's probably not Russia, after all their talking heads were complaining that their troops don't have enough warm weather gear already.
