Ukraine counter offensive

Soft power I think the term is where you have terms and conditions for trade, with treats being given back for joining the 'party'

it's a tricky one for Russia, push untrained and questionably equipped troops forward where they struggle to get amunition and food forward, or keep them in reserve where the failure to pay them makes mutiny more likely.

But the mud season is closing in, that will reward the army with the best logistics pipeline. That's probably not Russia, after all their talking heads were complaining that their troops don't have enough warm weather gear already.
I assume you mean cold weather gear. I wonder how much Ukraine has? Wanting warm with winter coming sounds a bit odd. Currently the usual appears to be ok as that is what is being used.

Roads appear to have been important all along to both sides. More rapid transport compared with say across fields. Rail too.

The rest of that view in real terms is conjecture other than maybe supply lines but Ukraine is a pretty big place and stuff probably comes in via the extreme west. There are too many aspects that we are not fully aware of. Loads of vodka drinking troops doesn't sound good but will they be allowed to fight like that? Conscripting annexed areas - according to a couple of people who came out there are remainers that want to be Russian. How many - no idea but doing this doesn't sound like a good idea

Putin has announced what he is going to do. His lot appear to be making use of the defeats as well - we can't allow this to happen etc.

Recent reporting on actually fighting. Beeb reporter. Both sides shelling each other with the usual pauses but clearly no shortage of shells or something to shoot them with. I doubt if she is there now. More recent, like today,. Strikes on the city of Zap,,,,,,,,,,,. One apartment block shown but other strikes as well, targets not shown or announced. The announcers suspects infrastructure. They usually aren't allowed near that as it passes info to the enemy.

Putin and his new troops. He has had to say with combat experience first. Suggest he may be getting others and maybe even volunteers.

But yes Russia is definitely having problems. I can't see how they can win long term but I can see that they are likely to have time to do something with fresh troops. I have no idea about Russia's production capabilities. They are unlikely to have materials problems. Precision weapons are ify but a UK look at what components they need and the comment was if they can shut off supplies.

There is a flip side to that

Don’t get taken in by Russian propaganda

Generally gets bandied around by Russian old duffers

Putin either ignored his military or he was badly advised

He thought the Ukranian / west would react in the same way as when he walked into the Crimea

50000 causalities ( and counting) later was his total miscalculation

Russian territory has already been attacked some while back Crimea

He has a major problem his tough guy persona has taken a hit

He would be best advised to wear his bullet proof vest at all times

Imo it’s just a question of time ? Before thefe is a direct confrontation with nato
RT banned in the EU...banned...website as well...Now that's what I call a great example of propaganda by the west or perhaps the people are too stupid to handle an opposing perspective other than that presented to them.
I did email the kremiln and asked them to send me a copy of the plans they had for the special operations...still waiting for a reply.
While I'm waiting, can I have a copy of the plans you were sent?
ps...the Duma are getting restless with Putin. They want to nuke the west and be done with it.
They also demand that UK-rain is bombed out of existence so that no more Russian troops have to die raking things easy for the people
Putin is a dove...

Russian conscripts have been advised to source their own first-aid kits, and attach to their uniforms with cable ties. Sanitary towels have been recommended as a good substitute for field dressings.
Can you send me a copy of that instruction issued by the Russian Gov? I know it will be in Russian language but I'd just like to see if you are just repeating the line given to you or you have some inside knowledge.
