Germany has ordered a load of F35's so have upped their defence spending already. The Mig that has been mentioned is a basic gp fighter. The US equivalent is seen to be an F16. There are various versions of both of them. Mig faster, higher ceiling and shorter range but when I see F16s they appear to have drop tanks.

I'm not so sure they would be bothered by the existence of the EU. NATO obviously. USA and ERG definitely as it's not free trade. Europe has traded with the USSR but not with items that many will come across. Optics of various qualities, cameras that some may have come across. Also technical kit eg school and university stuff. Say some one wanted a student microscope. The USSR made one model instead of several different brands being available in the west. When Russia changed the prices increased too much so cheaper stuff available from elsewhere.

Then comes Russian oil, gas, materials and even grains. Those are the areas that will hit us. Running Russian military stuff needs Russian spares. In the Ukraine this seems to be a problem with agricultural stuff as well but only briefly mentioned so no idea how much of a problem it is.

I've also blame the leaders of Ukraine for doing what they did to the language and more well documented in the other thread look it up.

As some will recall I was bullied, abused etc just because I was saying that comprises is a must and will happen for peace EG putin keeps what he had before the attacks and possibly a bit more in the east possibly and no nato for them.

I am advocating UN troops as well possibly from India and Turkey

The abusers and the bullies have taken a low profile since theUkrained said it will not join nato to get to peace.

There wasn't much use of cruise missiles in 1940. In some respects the arms sent are a bit 1940 - for use on tanks. The stinger type things are intended mostly for helicopters. Very Afghan war like. That is what was sent to Bin Laden and the Taliban. A Hind costs ~$38m. A typical fighter can cost ~$30m but can fly too high for typical stingers. In Iraq they seemed to be mostly used for very precise hit with laser guided missiles even on vehicles. Dog fights in the air - do they even happen now? Those are won by out producing the enemy as per WWII.

A cruise missile USA style seems costs from $1m to $2m depending on spec. I've read Russia have used over 600 of them. Some from Ukraine, some from Russia and some from ship. Stock wise they are reckoned to have plenty. Ranges vary. Up to 5,000km is mentioned. They have just claimed they have used a hypersonic one - to be verified. They do have them. Maybe it's a comment meaning they will.

So they would like to use helicopters but it could prove costly. Tank warfare isn't what it was but they can be used to help soldiers to get around. Seems the UK antitank stuff is effective up to 500m. Tanks can shoot a lot further. They are thought to cost ~$4m each. Boris has mentioned sending longer range stuff recently.

Army, soldiers. From what I have read 280,000 and they run a national conscription set up. 12 months that used to be 2 years. They may have reservists as some countries do.

The west's military comments. They didn't take out a number of things that they could have immediately. Later they mention sieges - one way of taking a city.

So they have messed up but war is nothing like it was in 1940's and I doubt if they thought it would be over in a few days. Real wars never are. Streat fighting would make sure they last longer.

It sounds like Mariapol is very near the end. Russian troops in. Messy. End games often are who ever achieves them. Anyway the corridors are open again. The consensus seems to be that it could go on for some time yet.

These 29 migs. A USA person reckons it would increase their air force by 40%. TBH given real air defence kit which the Russian do have they wouldn't make much difference. I'd also ask the question why they do not have the best forms of cruise missile defence.
