Who exactly is a 'working person' according to Labour?

Laura wasted a good 15mins on this in an interview concerning education. That may have got 10.

Pretty stupid really as some will be both. At east the bbc headline is sensible
During the election, Labour promised not to increase National Insurance, income tax or VAT on working people but ministers have since come under pressure to define exactly who that covers.

Appearing on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Phillipson said the manifesto pledge referred to people "whose main source of income is the income they earn from going out to work".

She avoided saying if she thought business owners could be considered working people.

I stopped working four weeks ago, I might start again when I get a hip replacement, but then again, I might not.

LOL Of course she didn't say that as not the people they were referring to.

They may have a shorter term solution to that.

Over the years person A has built up skills relating to the markets.
This has involved hours upon hours learning the markets and how they work.
They also study what is happening in the business world, reading copious amounts of business stuff both online and in the finance sections of papers.
They then use said skills and business knowledge to invest their money.
They sit at their desk, at home, doing this Monday to Friday, 09.00 - 17.00.
It is their sole income stream.
They happen to be very good at it and make a decent annual income.

Is person A not a working person?

They're going to tie themselves up in knots over this the way most politicians did over the gender thing.

Surely a working person is somebody being paid to undertake work

From £10.55 per hour to much more

Unlike the economically inactive me

So as sayings go , another hole they have dug for themselves

Is person A not a working person?

I would not class A, as a working person - I classify, people in just two classes, 'producers', and 'non-producers'. A is firmly in the latter group, living off the backs of those in the prior group. The 'producers', provide a tangible service, or make goods.

I find it hard to believe that all did not realise what group was being referred to. But along comes a bit of political sniping and hey ho off they go, dropping bombs and singing songs.

It's political games before the budget. I forecast that one side will say "you broke your manifesto pledge" and the other side will say "no we didn't". Fun and games...

So Labour said they wouldn’t raise taxes BUT by raising employer NI , the employers will just pass this on to the employees as no or smaller pay rises. It’s going to be paid by the workers one way or another

the employers will just pass this on to the employees as no or smaller pay rises
Then Labour will say it was the employers decision and others will say they were forced into it. You surely know the game that is going on...
