yep - even a 21 day roller is showing a top of the peak. Note, there are discrepancies on reported deaths for today and yesterday as Wales has apparently restated higher death numbers from earlier. I don't want to include them in current data as they are historic errors.

A bit like finding out you won Gold in the Olympics 12 years later when everyone else above was banned for cheating. Nobody cares that you are now the gold winner as you didn't win on the day.

The entries to hospital are dropping as well. For England. Plateaued yet ? Maybe just beginning.

That in turn causes deaths to fall.

Your right it's tricky. The totalling up later seems to be common especially around weekends. :) I wondered if it was a dastardly plot at one point as drops seemed to relate to government announcements. ;) Not seriously wondered really but it did seem odd.

Don't think so. It has also shown us breaking an unpleasant record that we probably didn't break. I did question the Welsh "easing lockdown" on the back of falling numbers after they restated earlier figures. That smacked of regression to the norm.

In how many cases does the parachute cause death and destruction?

Lockdown is not without consequences. There is a very complex balance.

Not sure they have eased lock down. Like Scotland their ministers have made noises but no real details. Some sources of DIY materials around me have been running click and collect most of the time but people don't enter the stores and they are maintaining distance. Collection may be delayed so wonder if that is being used to prevent too many arriving at once. No signs of police watching what is going on but they are driving around.

Suppose if too many people use the service it would be like supermarkets - queues around the car park - nvg imho so avoiding.

If you're parachuting into water or get caught up in trees, then occasionally.

If you deploy your chute whilst still inside a plane then worst case it could damage or destroy the plane.

If your golden parachute is literal, not figurative, then you will probably not survive and could well injure someone on the ground.

Parachuting is fairly dangerous. Not as bad as hires riding or fishing but pretty dangerous.

It seems there are 10million key workers so some of the economy is working. Many are likely to be on PAYE.

Actual number usually really employed is tricky due to how the sums are done. People are split into employed, unemployed and economically inactive. People of all ages can be permanently inactive or move back to either of the other 2 areas or just remain inactive. That can be just because they just can't get a job for any reason. The unemployment rate ignores these.

The most recent figures I can find are

Estimates for December 2019 to February 2020 show a record 33.07 million people aged 16 years and over in employment, 352,000 more than a year earlier. This annual increase was mainly driven by women in employment (up by 318,000 on the year to a record high of 15.73 million

This includes people actively looking for a job and any on zero hours contracts. There are reckoned to be 8million economically inactive people. It's usually only quoted as a % so that is a politician's number. Seen as a possible source of staff shortages. There is a reality check on this

Retired early must be spending so are economically active or they would starve and not be able to buy iPhones, they may be bringing up kids too. Some juts wont be able to get a job.

:) Little rant.
:( Anyway companies would rather import labour than train so for instance some countries breed people who can use sewing machines. Also some people who tend to work harder / more effectively as they come from countries where work is scarce / other aspects as well that might be called a work ethic.

A month or so ago, we were looking at Italy , China and Iran and were sad for them.
Apart from Italy, we have overtaken the other two!

my understanding is that hardware stores and garden centres didnt have to close -they did so because they were concerned they couldnt comply with social distancing and minimise risk to staff sufficiently.

lots of businesses are still working -there are plenty of online shopping companies still operating, including ebay sellers.

my sister is a bookkeeper for a building company -they are still working, she only goes to the office on Saturday and collects invoices etc then does rest at home. Their sites are still operating although Im not sure how well they are achieving in social distancing
