Big Numbers today

428 recorded deaths - Another 20% WoW reduction today. We seem to be holding steady on this as its been consistent for the last 3 weeks. Anything under 500 for tomorrow will be good.

I've no idea - I'm only really tracking deaths. I'd say we rank 6th in the world now for testing, but some countries are using temperature checks as "tests".

I've been tested.

It does, a 'tentative estimate circulating Whitehall' is how it's described. Mind you, didn't Prof Lockdown say 600,000 deaths if we didn't go into lockdown.
Given the rate of excess deaths over Covid-19 it's not unreasonable. Lets say we're half way through Covid-19 in terms of deaths, which is probably optimistic.

That means approximately 70-80k due to Covid-19 alone. Other excess mortality due to the effect of Covid-19 is around half the Covid-19 total (from ONS, very rough estimate). That takes us up to 105k to 120k.

I wouldn't call it lockdown deaths, because it isn't (mostly) because people are spending more time indoors. Without the lockdown you'd still have had most of those deaths and a heck of a lot more as society ground to a halt, instead of the almost organised lockdown we've had.

Lots of talk about potentially 150,000 'lockdown' related deaths.
convenient deflection from this govts shambolic performance.

there is far more talk about why this country has the 2nd highest deaths in the world.
