Can Kamala Harris win?

It seems Harris is edging ahead in the polls. But very slowly. The fivethirtyeight aggregator now has her almost 2% ahead. She is predicted to get a bounce from her VP pick and then another one from the convention. Trump is going to be sentenced in September. It's looking hopeful.

Have people already forgotten about the attempted assassination? It seems like so long ago. But it was only three weeks. I have an awful feeling it might still make the difference on 5 November.

There was no real 'sympathy bump'. The fact he was shot at by a registered Republican takes a lot of the political sting out of it.

The people who study the polls reckon things are too close to call it. That appears to be swing state ones. A couple of points difference needn't be significant and who's on top varies.

Walz’s selection came as something of a surprise. For much of last week, betting markets had given Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro a more than 60 percent chance of joining the Democratic ticket. In opting for Walz instead, Harris defied the conventional wisdom among Democratic consultants, who had broadly favored Shapiro. And on Tuesday morning, some close to the Trump campaign told CNN that they were “breathing a sigh of relief” that the Democratic nominee had not tapped the popular Pennsylvania governor.

Reasons for and against the choice of Tim Walz @ VOX

Waltz wasn't very well known until recently, then he did a fantastic job on some TV interviews and people started to notice.

He ticks the 'white and male' demographic and is both fantastic in interviews and has an excellent résumé.

As a DEI choice he's a really good option.

To the elderly backwoodsmen of the Conservative Party, she was the next best thing after Buffoon.

Which tells you something about them.

Some Tory have been wondering if they should change their "PM" selection method. They have always rigged the initial selection process but the final decision comes down to The Party and it seems what the candidate chooses to say. Maybe they thought another Mrs T. LT's ideas were backed by her supporters so blame the lot.

A US view adds a couple of other factors. Small town background, known to get results and very good at talking to some sectors of the US population. It seems it was him that came up with the creepy weird angle. Reports say Harris has effectively been interviewing each candidate by watching them in action. He won.

Hilarious tweet from Trump. I hope he really is having a mental breakdown.

“What are the chances that Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the history of the U.S., whose Presidency was Unconstitutionally STOLEN from him by Kamabla, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Shifty Adam Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and others on the Lunatic Left, CRASHES the Democrat National Convention and tries to take back the Nomination, beginning with challenging me to another DEBATE,” the post read. “He feels that he made a historically tragic mistake by handing over the U.S. Presidency, a COUP, to the people in the World he most hates, and he wants it back, NOW!!!”
