EV are they worth it?

, your assumptions that it's all "foreigners and druggies" disgusts me...

Where did I say that?

Though as you mention it, I suppose you do realise a high percentage of property crime is carried out by those hooked on drugs seeking their next fix?

But don't let details get in the way of your sudden decision to get all affronted and claim the moral high ground. No matter how spurious.

The lies trying (and failing) to prop up dropping EV sales and pretend they're cheap or cheaper to run. Vid is a bit long, but may also be too much reality and common sense for EV fanatics to handle.

The person in the video is a dealer in the real world who buys and sells all types of cars.

Worth the time to watch, and I like his description of the EV supporters as religion - the religion aspect certainly comes across in this thread.

Yes, defending something that is more than likely an illusion, whether it's some deity or the cheapness and convenience of EV ownership, takes a lot of dedication and hard work from committed converts. Or maybe they should actually be committed. ;)

I'm saving big money because I charge my (£50 grand, rapidly depreciating) EV for tuppence ha'penny overnight at home. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Also hearing some brake problem rumours with EVs, particularly ones used mainly for urban driving. Not sure if true, but heard that urban driving concentrates braking on the regenerative system rather than using the disc brakes around town. Consequently the discs are rusting through lack of use and calipers seizing. This can mean that the brakes aren't working fully when needed, and there have been some accidents as a result. Also it can mean that brake components are being replaced much sooner than would normally be expected.

Don't know how widespead this is, but would make sense if they are less efficient or seizing through lack of use. One of the aspects of EVs that wouldn't immediately come to mind, but you find out after some period of time.

I would suggest that is actually a myth - I drive an ICE, discs all round with separate drum for the handbrake. My pads and shoes last forever, due to my careful, laid back driving style, yet I have no problem with discs rusting, or calipers sticking.

I'm not going to sit through half an hour of that! Can you just give us the edited highlights?

Ah... so I'm sure it'll be objective, dispassionate, factual and unbiased then... :ROFLMAO: Looks like I made the right call, not sitting through it.

We keep inviting you to post up your evidence that it's an "illusion", but somehow, you never quite seem to get round to it...

Mate at Jaguar says they have a bit of trouble with sticking calipers on some of the very lightly-driven ones. The "rusty discs" is ****** though. They certainly use their brakes much less. 40k on mine soon, and the discs have no lip on them yet. You certainly notice the vast reduction in brake dust on the rims when you wash it.

EV's make great milk floats, and mobility scooters, for anything else ICE is the sensible, rational, and best financial option.

Had to smile today. Long country road. I was behind an EV Kia which, in turn, was behind Golf GTI with a couple of lads in it. We got to one of the few decent overtaking straights and we both just whipped past the lads in the Golf, like it was standing still. It was making a fair bit of noise, mind, and I'm sure they thought they were going really fast... Bless...

I did, well worthwhile, though it may not be what you want to hear. Basically, it's made by someone in the trade, a car dealer, someone who knows what he is talking about, expressing his views on EV's, and their true costs of ownership, and how much more they cost to buy, and run, than an ICE. He seems totally honest, completely down to earth, debunking many of the myths of ownership of EV's.
