which right wing supporters then moan about people getting benefits

pay people enough so they dont need benefits
Exactly this.

If a full time worker still needs benefits then the level of pay is not enough. Do not mistake that for increasing the minimum wage, nothing is gained if all costs go up.

Robert Jenrick was doing so well in the race but made one crucial mistake at the party conference - he made a speech.

Another view. Several of them

The thing I noticed is no % change for Cleverly after the last drop out. However the Tory always vote strategically. to achieve what they want at the end. Not so many of them now so a bit of a ?

Remember this is the party that selected Liz T on merit

Not sure when the next vote is? I think this week but pass.

It's pretty clear that Lammy is more elequent than she was in the same position and I don't think Blinken will be laughing at him unlike Liz. :( On the other hand he has far more power. A trained strategician as well.

Truss is an idiot.

But the mostly elderly RW extremist Tory membership like that.

How much do you think that is. Obviously its regional.

£25k, £35k, £45k?

It's not a figure. Try using open questions for a change.

It's a whole shift of attitude and policy that's needed.

Any worker, of any level, in any part of the country should be able to live on a wage.

You consistently want to exploit people by wanting to pay as low as you can, as long as there are lots of people looking for work. But argue against unions looking after their members.

The gap between the haves and have nots is too big.

The reason for the min wage plus top ups is costs if the top ups were replaced by wages.

The top ups come from taxation so are a form of redistribution. Something that you should not forget. Or that many levels of income pay tax. The Tory for instance base NI cut extra cash to average wage earners. There are lots that do not earn that much.

Then comes the question are the top ups enough. Poverty suggests not for some people.

Wealth is needed for investment. Lack of investment is one of our major problems compared with others.

Employment is by definition a form of exploitation.

I have vacancies open at the moment. I'm offering more than Sue Gray's Salary ~200k Euro pa. Am I exploiting them?

I expect them to generate fees of over £1m. So yes I am.

Why do I pay 200k? Is it because it's fair? No its because there is a business case.

Someone being paid "fair pay or fair work" assuming you can work out what that is, will result in employers saying - we can't justify paying our West London receptionist £50K a year, in order for her to "live" on her wage. So we let her go.

I repeat for the last time - If you want people to earn more, you need to help them develop the skills to be more valuable.

Let's put our receptionist on a training course so that she can do some useful fee generating work, when not signing visitors in. Now we can justify her higher pay.

Why do you keep swerving.

Is a fair day's work not worth a fair day's pay ? We are talking minimum wage level, not the higher earners

Its not swerving.

I'm asking you to define it. You seem to be struggling with that.

you say it's a whole shift of attitude and policy that's needed.

Yep - you need to understand that wages relate to business value, as do the existence of jobs.

So how many so I can work out a return? Why euro? If in the EU not much use to the UK in terms of jobs. Questions about where any tax goes as well.

This has nothing to do with the leapfrogging Tories competition.

Motorbiking is in the habit of attempting to threads away from topics that embarrass him.
