The torey membership will vote for the person that appeals to their own political views, which are going to be pretty right wings after borris saw off the centrists in 2019. That's how Trusss got in. Maybe time to bring the leadership vote back to MP's only
The Tory Reform Group, which represents One Nation Conservatives has issued a statement saying it is refusing to back either of the two candidates left in the leadership contest – Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch.
TRG members were consulted throughout the process, and the results clearly show that neither candidate has secured widespread support from the majority of our membership. Both have used rhetoric and focused on issues which are far and away from the party at its best, let alone the One Nation values we cherish and uphold. Therefore, the board of the TRG has unanimously concluded that we are unable to endorse either candidate.

Sainsbury is a member. Major labour donator. One of his hopes is that they can pull the population back together.
It's interesting that the group formed in 1975 and what followed but they are not all of the Tory party members who vote.

The MPs have the power to choose the two best candidates and let the membership decide. They have only themselves to blame if they choose a useless idiot or a nutter, still more so if they choose two barmy extremists,
Mel Stride hinting today on Sky that the system has to be changed, maybe non secret ballot, or one ballot plus single transferable vote. Love how the torey's are happy with PR when it avoids the "wrong" candidate getting appointed.
James' supporters didn't operate as cleverley as they thought, but I wouldn't put is past Bobby J to have offered inducements. Its entirely possible they've hacked each other
