Trump Re Ukraine

Follow the money. It always reveals the truth of a matter ime.

What is Putins real reason for invading Ukraine?

I would say it’s largely connected to his hatred of the EU…..which is borne out of fear.

In May 2004 8 countries previously part of USSR, joined the EU:
Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia
Those countries 20 years later are flourishing democracies with a combined GDP greater than Russia.

Poland has a gdp per capita of $23,000
Russia has a gdp per capita of $14,000

Before the invasion in 2022 Ukraine was becoming slowly more Westernised, it was becoming a growing destination for undergraduates as it had a very good reputation for Universities with very cheap living costs.

Imagine if Ukraine became part of the EU, and became a flourishing democracy….a country with a quarter of the worlds most fertile soil, known as Chernozem. Add in the rare Earth minerals, oil and gas resources, long term Ukraine could become a major economy in the EU.

If you are a dictator keeping people in poverty, you don’t want your citizens to see an alternative just next door.

So why haven’t you questioned the real reasons for Musk and Trumps portrayal of USA govt as corrupt and wasteful?

Hungary flourishing is it?
Yes absolutely compared to before it joined EU

“The Hungarian GDP, GDP per capita, living standards and wages have been steadily rising until the start of the COVID-19 pandemic”

I am correct.

There’s a ton of false claims in this thread….that originate from the right wing populists of Farage, Trump, Musk
There is a lot of propaganda I agree with you there. A lot of armchair military experts and economists. It’s amazing.

Yes once again I agree. I didn’t realise how good it was

The Ukraine war has been a war of propaganda.

The Western media hasn’t helped itself with its false claims that Ukraine was winning….they have done amazingly well for a poor country but they can’t match up to an Oil economy with a dictator who has no need to justify spend.

You do seem to swallow a lot of the right wing propaganda over Ukraine.

Ukraine never threatened Russia !

And of course you was there during these threats to know this as a fact? We don’t know 100% anything with this war. It’s all been a catalogue of lies and deceit.

On this thread we are seeing rather too much false information being posted about Ukraine, Zelensky, Russia.

This shows how the right wing populists pushing it control the narrative
That's your area of expertise ;)

As Trump says, war could be avoided with a deal.

After Pearl Harbour, America could have agreed to cede the Pacific, scuttle its navy, and declare California to be a part of Japan.

Oh come on.

No argument is purely 1 sided but do you have any comment from anywhere that's even suggested Ukraine wanted to invade Russia.

The argument about wanting to join NATO as the reason is ropey enough, but don't swallow all the pootin and Trump lies

Ukraine gained independence in 1991? Why hasn't it been doing more in the intervening three decades to exploit said resources? I'm not typing that in a confrontational way, I genuinely wonder.

I agree with your second point.
