White disadvantage?

Yes. A targeted minority of school age children in Newham.

Newham council sees its UFSM scheme as a valuable bulwark against hunger and poverty, but £250m of budget cuts over the past decade and the rising cost of Covid mean it is – in common with other councils – having to consider reducing or closing “non-core” services that it has no legal duty to provide.

Mottie has been furloughed for a long time. His information is well out-of-date.
Apart from the fact that your link has no relevance to white male schoolchildren, what’s your point other than the fact that you can demonstrate that you have lost the ability to read to the end of your own links?

"The proposed £1.9m cut would not affect those children who qualify for free school meals, or affect eligibility for government-funded school holiday food support schemes. If it goes ahead it will start in September 2021".

I had an email once telling me that funding was available for certain cohorts, one of which was white males that are now a targeted minority in need of help in the LA that I work in. Would you call that 'white privilege'?

You need to remind yourself what you were talking about.
The link, which wasn't mine, was about free school meals irrespective of colour.
And your email that you received once was , I would guess, at least 18 months ago.

The tory voters on here will grasp at any lie to comfort themselves their continual support of budget cuts and austerity is the biggest determinant in poor white kids not performing as well they should.

Think about it - the ony way to defend their policies is through denial and fabrication. Just today on Marr Brandon Lewis when confronted with his own tweet saying there is no sea border with NI just rattled off lie after lie.

They keep on getting voted in because they know how to manipulate the voters - case in point - this thread.

And because of all the people who think that it is a sign of strength to behave in ways driven by insecurity and fear and mistrust.

The word "poverty" has been bandied about much in this thread; there is no such thing in modern Britain. Using the word this way is a travesty - it insults our ancestors who lived in genuine poverty and simply grinned and bore it. The only poverty around now is the moral and intellectual kind

Well if you're so 'intellectual', you define 'poverty'!

And then may I suggest you then go and explain it to the ever increasing number of homeless people, or the millions reliant on food banks to feed their families!

Poverty is said to exist when people lack the means to satisfy their basic needs

Well there are plenty of people who don't have enough money to eat sufficient food or pay to have sufficient heating.

So by using the definition of poverty, it does exist.

It was for a summer school initiative in advance of the school holidays. Why would they send it twice?
An obvious swerve.
If you intended for it to read that you had only received the email once, you wouldn't have included the word 'once'.
You would have simply said ,"I had an email once telling me that funding was available for certain cohorts,.."

The inclusion of the word 'once' on this occasion, clearly refers to you having received the email some time ago, as in 'once upon a time', implying some time ago.
