I did study to be an associate member of the institute of motor industries, and the other day came across the exam paper, it is all about contract law, and administration, you had to pass all the technical exams before you could even apply to be a member.

And if an electric car would it not be IET? They set out all the rules for charging cars.

Lithium battery ignited by dog. Soon we will have an incidence of ignition by children. Lithium is literally the fickle drama queen of the elements world. Can you see why it will be made illegal in the near future?

DOG CHEWS THROUGH BATTERY

No.

Dog chews through electric cables
Cat hoiks lit candle onto floor
Child pours can of unattended petrol
Moron making Youtube video drops lead acid battery while pouring acid out of it.
Car driver ploughs their 3 tonne wagon through the side of a school.

Ah, I've missed all this! Nutjob spouting his usual mixture of ill-informed FUD, lies and BS, Reagan telling us they'll never catch on and he's gonna stick with his horse...

Well, I've done 1000 miles in my EV this week. Kent and back. Bloody nightmare journey on the way back on Friday! just under 12 hours. Obviously, most of that was spent getting a new battery, fighting fires and charging it (not sure what order that's supposed to be in, but I'm sure one of the non-EV using experts on here will let me know)...;)

But the reality, was a combination of traffic and roadworks, really. Took 5 hours to do the first 150 miles! Wouldn't have done it any quicker in an ICE, because I didn't stop to charge in that distance. Left Whitstable with about 75% charge, Dartford tunnel was the usual misery, but then the M11 had a 2 hour delay because of an accident, so I decided to have a nice trip through rural Hertfordshire to pick up the A1 further South. Pity everyone else was doing the same! Still, at least EVs are bloody brilliant in traffic. Sat there stationary, with the aircon on, not spewing out exhaust fumes or cooking my engine...

Stopped at a Costa in Peterborough with an outrageously expensive Instavolt charger while I grabbed a snack, and charged for 14 minutes. Then stopped again for some lunch at Blyth Services, on a much more reasonably priced Gridserve for 26 minutes. Thought I was home and dry by then, but no. Got to Scotch Corner and the bloody A66 was close Westbound! Diversion was half way to bloody Newcastle and back on the country roads through Barnard Castle! Really could have done without that! Decided to have a wee and a can of pop at Scotch Corner before carrying on, so plugged in for 10 minutes. Probably didn't really need that last one, as I got home with 20% left, but at least it was on special offer. Didn't have to queue for any of them, by the way. 435 miles in the end.

...although there must be some mistake, because everyone knows you can't do long trips in an EV - and even if you could, you'd have to queue for hours for a charger, and then charge for even more hours...;)

Yes, really. Please don't deny reality. It doesn't help your argument, even if it makes you feel better about paying 51 grand for a Kia.:oops::oops:

Even something smaller like a Corsa is £10,000 more for the EV version compared to the petrol model.

I mean, come on - £51,000 could have bought you something really nice. With ICE, obviously. (y)
