The new record temperature isn't set to be much higher than the previous one but global warming done on averages is happening.

Personally I wonder about the other change - unseasonally warm followed by unseasonally cool. Things are less evened out. Seasons have changed in some ways - not so dependable. Leaves me wondering about claims in the 70's concerning rain forest loss as they form their own microclimate and eventually wont be able to. An area we can do little about and what has gone has. It isn't going to come back.

LOL Rail - better get their hacksaws out and reintroduce the gaps in the rails rather than thinking the Victorians were stupid. TBH I have been waiting for problems in that area as soon as it was changed. We have had UK temperatures of 100F in the shade, old Victorian expession. Rails in sunlight will get hotter. Seems they are trying to paint what they can white to reflect sunlight.

It's currently 36.1 degrees where I am, and rising by the hour.
Tomorrow is expected to be hotter.
Several large fires burning in Essex too.
I really don't remember this happening in previous years.

On Twitter today:
In 2020, the @metoffice produced a hypothetical weather forecast for 23 July 2050 based on UK climate projections. Today, the forecast for Tuesday is shockingly almost identical for large parts of the country.

There you go . You don’t need evidence from me . You’re quite capable of digging up the hysteria I was trying to point out for yourself.
No, you made some claims, and you need to back them up with evidence. But it looks like you won't/can't.

Why were there a couple of degrees rise in temperature if the population was so small, other factors rather than humans?
There is more than one source of gases that cause global warming

For example, studies of ice cores show that in the middle ages there was more than average volcanic activity...

Currently it is human activity that is a large driving force...

The point that you seem to have missed is that with a smaller population and more abundant vital resources ( food/water) the impact was less than it is now given a huge global population and dwindling vital resources...

Please, it's cruel to make ellal think.
I always think, so then maybe you can learn :)

A beautiful summer. The type that chavs jump on a plane for . I’ll Be quite happy if this goes on for 6 weeks.

Maybe that is the reason behind the pandemic, covid jab and now food shortages and high fuel bills, world governments attempts at reducing the population to below 500,000,000.?

Continuously welded rail is pre-stretched to counteract (most of) the effects of the steels expansion.
I personally miss some 'clikety clack', but the savings in maintenance, the improved ride quality and enhanced line speeds are well worth the change.

Are we to assume that you also think the above inflation ticket price rises year on year are well worth it?

;) I mostly thought Murphy would prove it to be the wrong thing to do at some point in the future. Some far more serious people did seriously wonder about the change and also the real benifits which appeared to be mostly no clickety clack any more.

WHAT a scorcher this unprecendented 40-degree weather Britain’s loving is? Worried about it? Consider the upsides, explains the Sun:

Tits out

As Britain heats the beaches of Bournemouth and Blackpool will go all European, with sexy birds whipping off bikini tops and going boobs out. No man can argue that global warming is bad when it means you get to see norks on a more regular basis.

Beers in the park

Ever wished those two months of drinking Carlsberg in the local park in summer could last forever? Now that we’ll be hitting the mid-30s in March, we can hit the cans night after blistering night. They’re recyclable, so the wokies can’t complain.

Beaches for everyone

With sea levels rising, soon even ****holes like the Midlands will have their own beach, complete with banana boats and fit surfer birds. Imagine getting off at Birmingham New Street and diving into the crystal clear waters of what used to be big Primark.

No need for coats

Layering up is what nanny-state liberals do. With skyrocketing temperatures there’ll be no more cloakroom charge because we’ll all be out on the town in T-shirts and shorts, like revellers in Marbella and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

No polar bears

Tree-huggers pretend these lads are all cuddly but you wouldn’t want to run into one in a pub toilet. It’s one less predator to worry about and one less animal you and your mates need to argue about whether you could beat in hand-to-hand combat.

F**k Europe
Brexit isn’t done yet. Not while we’re still dependent on the EU for our sunshine breaks. Global warming means that the furthest any Brit will have to go is the coast of their own country, where an Only Fools & Horses-themed pub serving chips is never far away.
