This type of savagery was unheard of in UK when I was growing up.

To me that indicates an age group and some one that hasn't noticed the vast increase in news coverage. Worse these days because of the various types on social media.

And our Media do a wonderful job of advertising knife crime,

They do have ideas on tackling that but a different type of problem. It's largely trying to get kids to not head in that direction. In some ways reporting is sensational as this explains

It may come as a surprise that places like London haven’t seen the biggest increases. Some of this is down to the relative amounts of crime police forces have dealt with historically. Several of the forces that experienced the largest percentage increases had very low numbers to begin with, so a relatively small increase in the number of incidents looks like a very large increase proportionally. Whereas some areas, like the West Midlands, saw the largest increases in terms of the actual number of incidents, but didn’t rank that high in terms of percentage increase because they had high numbers to begin with. Other factors such as improvements in the recording of knife crime and County Lines activity exporting drug related violence across the country could also explain some of the differences between police forces, although we can’t say for sure.

That is knife crime. Some crime when a knife is involved not homicides which are much rarer.

Why report this way. Good question, It can be a stronger indication that something needs to be done about it probably figures. It does anyway.

Last night, a large group of youths looted and smashed shops in the town centre, and on the high street too.

It was a strange scene because you had members of the hard right hurling bricks at the police, then families all wearing England tops cheering them along.

I saw babies in pushchairs, very small children on the march, and scores of teenagers, young boys and girls, all dressed up to their nines, out on a Friday, just looking for a bit of excitement.

There was some well-known figures from far-right groups in attendance too.

Youngsters in balaclavas were coordinated, gathering missiles to throw at police officers.

Nothing to do with politics for the majority of them. It’s just out and out crime. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, the police need to go in hard and crack some skulls. What have the police done to be under such attacks - those throwing bricks at them would be the first to call for them if they were under attack.
