Here come the excuses

In a spirit of compromise can we agree on calling another referendum?
To re-enter the EU now would be very difficult.
There is every chance we'd have to accept the Schengen Zone, and the Euro.
There is no guarantee that the UK's current governance would meet the criteria for acceptance.
There is every chance that some member nations would refuse UK's application.

The way back is fraught with difficulties.
UK has burnt the bridges.

Or stop them coming in illegally. Deal with the current situation and sort a proper application process out that works, or works a lot better.
Of course, that’s what everybody wants

But the UK has no jurisdiction over small boats leaving France and once arrived they can’t be returned to France.

It is an intractable problem.

The only solution is to stop the trafficking gangs and reach European wide agreements on dealing with it…….but no country will work together because that means agreeing on taking asylum seekers and that politically damaging.

By the way, people in small boats amounted to 30,000 last year, net migration was say a million and visa overstayers are around 750,000. The focus is wrong.

Succinctly encapsulated.
Except for the absence of legal and safe routes for asylum seeking.

I agree with you. Words I don’t say often

I think Starmer is following an idea that came up during Tory PM elections. Rory the Tory - time to be honest with people.
Pensioners. I did post this some where or the other. The bulk are not just dependent on a state pension. Loads are still on company schemes and the number on private pensions is increasing over time. Rather a lot are likely to be paying income tax. In fact those just on a full state pension have been forecasted to start paying tax in the near future. Around ~30 years ago people on some form of private pension were advised to contract back into a full state pension as the returns were seen as worth while if they were 40 or younger.

The curious thing is that the gov knows that there are many pensioners that could claim benefits that don't. Nothing Labour related to that. It's just how it is. I wonder why it finished up like this - not that I really wonder. It's obvious.

The change on winter fuel is that anyone on any sort of benefit gets it. If more sign up for benefits more money is needed to cover it. Borderline cases are those most likely to suffer. One such case was reported. The person concerned was paying income tax.

Reeves's black hole. Comes down to the dreaded fiscal rules. When a budget alters taxation a new 5 year plan appears. The person that makes the change can alter various values used to suite what they want to do. Well - she is not at all happy about what she has found. ;) I'm glad C4 explained some aspects of how it works. It's possible to produce a 5 year plot. Debt is needed to reduce but another aspect goes by the name of chancellors head room. You can see it as an error margin measured in billions. An excess in other words. It's always been a rather small % of the £1t being spent. The rules get checked regularly and a country can find itself always bouncing against them.

A pretty simple explanation
The comments about welfare spending caps are "interesting".

If you take a very slanted view like that seriously your in need of help. Scrap universal credit over night or make some serious changes - are you some sort of comedian or a fool. That is just a for instance on the comments in the link.

"Another of Starmer’s key campaign ideas was to abolish Universal Credit".

Someone is a comedian or a fool and it ain’t me.

Don't see the problem with the euro, never understood left wingers objections.

How?

net migration has dropped 25% so far this year.

I suggest you stop foaming at the mouth you are embarrassing yourself.

How can Corbyn “over throw” Labour, he isn’t even in the Labour Party and his allies in Labour Party are the Socialist Campaign Group which add up to about 15 at most.

By the way how would Corbyn “be the end of this country”, he wants nationalisation of water, railway and gas and electricity, hardly a bad thing.

If you looked at Corbyns 2019 manifesto it was left of centre social democracy similar to Nordic countries which have far higher living standards than UK

You are gettin yer knickers in a twist

Would you then like an Antisemitic leader of the Labour party?

Don't see the problem with the euro, never understood left wingers objections.

The euro is mainly to benefit the Germans and holds the weakened southern European countries back.

Why do you think that the UK and Poland never joined it
